The eyewear door

Frames chosen with you, lenses made to your prescription

A pair of glasses is something you wear all day. We take the time to match the frame to your face, your prescription and the way you live.

The shelves hold independent and designer frames in acetate, metal and mixed materials, from thin and quiet to bold. Try on as many as you like, and ask Janet which ones suit your prescription.

  • Independent and designer frames

  • Adult and teen sizes, narrow and wide fits

  • Lenses made to the prescription from your exam

Several pairs of eyeglasses hang from a wooden clothes hanger on a white wall.

Lens options

The lenses we make

Your doctor's prescription decides what you need. The optician explains the options that fit it.

  • Single vision

One strength across the lens, for distance, for reading or for the computer.

  • Progressives and bifocals

More than one strength in a lens, so near and far both work. Fitting height matters, and we measure it carefully.

  • Prescription sunglasses

Your prescription in a tinted lens, in a frame you choose. Polarized and tinted options are explained at the counter.

  • Coatings and tints

Glare-reducing coatings, scratch-resistant coatings and lenses that darken in sunlight. We say what each one does and does not do.

  • Reading and computer glasses

A pair set for the distance you actually read or work at.

  • Thinner lenses

Stronger prescriptions can mean thick lenses. Higher-index lenses make them thinner and lighter, and the optician shows you the difference.

Your prescription is yours

Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere. Buy glasses here because you want them from us, not because you have to.

About eyewear

Do you fit glasses from another office's prescription?

Yes. Bring the prescription and we will make the glasses, if the prescription is current.

How long do new glasses take?

It depends on the lenses. The optician tells you when you order, and we call you when they are ready.

Can I try on frames before my exam?

Of course. Many people look at frames first and book the exam for when they have found a few they like.
